How the recipe scaler works
The scale factor is the target serving count divided by the original serving count. Every parsed quantity is multiplied by that factor, including both ends of a range.
Mixed numbers, Unicode fractions, decimals, and written ranges such as one to two are accepted. Descriptive entries such as to taste stay unchanged and receive a review warning.
Unit conventions
Volume and mass are separate. The label fl oz means a US fluid ounce at 29.5735 ml. A plain oz means weight at 28.3495 g.
Metric volume uses milliliters or liters. Metric mass uses grams or kilograms. US output can use teaspoons, tablespoons, fluid ounces, cups, pints, quarts, gallons, ounces, or pounds.
What stays outside this result
The scaler never converts volume to weight because that requires an ingredient density. Bottle equivalents describe parsed liquid only and do not include dilution, vessel headroom, or bar inventory.
